Chamberlin Wins!!!!

Alan Chamberlin won the run-off election for Village Trustee. It was a breathtaking election with both candidates working very hard to turn out voters. The total voter for the run-off was 470 and Alan won by a narrow victory of six votes.

Every vote counts!!!!!

Alan Chamberlin for Trustee - Vote May 1

I believe the Trustees should be a partner in making downtown a livable, pedestrian-friendly place where you can work, shop & play.

I will fight for accountability and transparency in Village Government. Let's create a positive can-do attitude.

I will push for more investment in youth and family programs. Springville hasn't increased recreation funding in years. Let's make our program the best is can be.

I will work for a master plan for the Village. We should be evaluating key staff positions for progress on this plan.

I will push for an investigation into abandoned and distressed properties. We need to do something about the out-of-town absentee owners who are bringing down our neighborhoods.

I will work to make Downtown the central hub for our area with community development, state grant programs and the beautification of Main Street.

We Can Do More. We Can Do Better. Vote Alan Chamberlin May 1.

A Platform

What matters to you?

Tree lined streets? Pedestrian friendly complete streets? Economic Development? Concerned about sprawl? Smart Growth? Green initiatives? Historic preservation? Drug related crime? A more expansive parks system? Better youth programs? A sustainability plan for the village? Tax abatements for reconstruction projects? Code enforcement for older properties? Village grants? Energy policy? Better cultural and event funding to spur activity? ?????  ?????

Revitalize Springville isn't so much about what the Village of Springville is doing now. It's about what we could be doing and how the Village Government could be a leader in this process. Let's set forth a vision and not be afraid to work toward it.

Come to a Public Forum: Thursday, January 19 at 7pm, Town Hall (cor. Mechanic & Franklin)

Village Elections for two trustee seats are on March 20 with petitions to get on the ballot due February 7.
We want to create a platform through dialog and then recommend two candidates for these seats.

We hope to raise the level of civic engagement. The last Village elections saw 76 people at the polls. That means only 76 people are deciding the future of your environment. Decisions are made every day that affect the quality of life here and only 76 people decided it was important to vote. We're setting out to change all of that and we're going to do it by putting real issues on the table.

In the future this blog will post our platform as it takes shape. It will be a location to read about what's happening at Trustee's meeting and things that impact the agenda we've set forth.

So if you care about the future of Springville, sign up and you'll receive updates. We all can't be at every meeting but hopefully this is a way to filter through the white noise and deliver information that matters to you. Look for the subscribe button below and see you on the 19th.
